Do I need updates?
It depends. As long as you are fine with what Meteobridge does for you, you don't need an update license. But there may be new developments or changes in functionality that make sense to you. You can read the release log at Forum section. Therefore, you can easily wait with getting an update license until you really have the need/wish to make use of these changes. When you decide to opt for an update license and by that to support the ongoing development of Meteobridge, we are of course also happy when you decide to go for an "Update License" anytime soon.
FuzzyBothttp://www.meteobridge.com/wiki/index.php?title=:License_Terms/10/en&diff=7808:License Terms/10/en2019-08-15T08:09:50Z
FuzzyBot: Importing a new version from external source

Why didn't you let users pay for new releases but keep the old ones unlimited supported?
We thought about doing that, but it has the disadvantage that we have to support multiple branches, which adds a lot of complexity to our development. That would mean, that part of the additional revenue will be eaten up by backporting bug fixes etc to old versions. Going the way we did, we just have one current version and this is the one we work with and we do bug-fixing and support for. We are aware, that this means that a user might need to purchase an update license, when he is stuck at a serious problem with the latest version he has access to. But as we just take 19 Euro for 2 years of update support, we feel that this is an acceptable price for having problems solved and additional 2 years of ongoing support. As we are a very small and specialized company, it is important for us to concentrate efforts and we cannot act as the big plays by supporting multiple branches.
FuzzyBothttp://www.meteobridge.com/wiki/index.php?title=:License_Terms/2/en&diff=7807:License Terms/2/en2019-08-15T08:09:40Z
FuzzyBot: Importing a new version from external source

14 Days Try-Out License
First time your flashed router does connect with the Meteobridge server a 14 days trial period starts, where you can use all features and try out, if Meteobridge is a fitting solution to your purpose. During try-out period You have a payment button on the "License" tab which allows you to purchase a permanent Meteobridge license. When try-out period has passed, Meteobridge will no longer read data from your weather station and will prompt corresponding error messages in "Messages" section on "System" tab. Being in this state, you can still purchase a license to get the system operational again.
FuzzyBothttp://www.meteobridge.com/wiki/index.php?title=:License_Terms/3/en&diff=7806:License Terms/3/en2019-08-15T08:09:24Z
FuzzyBot: Importing a new version from external source

Online Licensing
When doing the license payment with the embedded "buy now" button, you receive a license key that needs to be entered into the corresponding input field on "License" tab and Meteobridge needs to be restarted to have the license applied. If you experience problems please contact "info(at)meteobridge.com".
You also receive an automated invoice that confirms your purchase. You don't need this information for operating your Meteobridge in licensed mode as the relevant information that you unit is licensed is stored on the Meteobridge server from that on.
FuzzyBothttp://www.meteobridge.com/wiki/index.php?title=:License_Terms/12/en&diff=7805:License Terms/12/en2019-08-15T08:09:23Z
FuzzyBot: Importing a new version from external source

* Your Meteobridge license is a permanent license, that does not run out.
* You can migrate the license to new devices (in case of HW fault, etc). Just send MAC of old and new device to "info(at)meteobridge.com" and we do the migration for free.
* First 2 years after license purchase you get all Meteobridge updates for free.
* When 2 years have passed, you can purchase an "Update License (19 Euro)" to have another 2 years of updates.
* There is not need to purchase an update license. You can operate your Meteobridge with the latest version accessible to you.
FuzzyBothttp://www.meteobridge.com/wiki/index.php?title=:License_Terms/5/en&diff=7804:License Terms/5/en2019-08-15T08:09:09Z
FuzzyBot: Importing a new version from external source

Can I transfer my License to a new Device?
Licenses are bound to the physical device. When you want to transfer the license to a new Meteobridge device, we can do that for free for you. Simply start the new device in trial mode and contact "info(at)meteobridge.com" telling us the MAC of the old and new device. If the old device is no longer operational and you don't have the MAC, please send us the invoice you received when purchasing the license. Having those credentials we swap the license to the new device. The old device will get the trial license from the new one, so you can operate it in parallel until trial runs out. When you have stored settings from old device (on "System" tab) you can upload that to the new device to spare setting it all up from scratch again. Min/max data stored on the Meteobridge server will not be swapped to the new device. You will need to enter the data manually for the new device (on "Live Data" tab).
FuzzyBothttp://www.meteobridge.com/wiki/index.php?title=:License_Terms/4/en&diff=7803:License Terms/4/en2019-08-15T08:09:02Z
FuzzyBot: Importing a new version from external source

How permanent is this License?
It is permanent, but Meteobridge operation depends in some aspects on the existence of the Meteobridge server. This dependency is threefold:
# In standard operation Meteobridge receives the application stack from the Meteobridge server.
# Historical min/max data which would otherwise be lost when you reboot your Meteobridge device is also stored on the Meteobridge server.
# Pictures you upload to the Meteobridge server and weather data annotation to those pictures are also a server based operation.
Being dependent on the Meteobridge server, your system will in standard configuration only operate when the Meteobridge server is up and running. To reduce your dependency on that, we designed a fall back mechanism, where you add a USB stick to your Meteobridge. Each time you reboot the Meteobridge the newest application stack loaded from the Meteobridge server is also stored on that stick. When you then set "boot from USB stick" option on "system" tab, you can operate your Meteobridge on next reboot without the help of the Meteobridge server. By that you can permanently use the Meteobridge, even when Meteobridge server is no longer there. When doing so min/max values are also stored on the USB stick, so you don't even need the Meteobridge server for this. Only item 3 (picture uploads) will no longer be operational when the server has gone.
As you see, you have it in your hands to make operation truly permanent even beyond the existence of the Meteobridge server. There is no planing that the Meteobridge server will be terminated. This server is a vital component of the Meteobridge project. We just want to give you instructions how to permanently run your Meteobridge even when the unlikely event occurs that the whole project including the server should by terminated in the far future.
FuzzyBothttp://www.meteobridge.com/wiki/index.php?title=:License_Terms/6/en&diff=7802:License Terms/6/en2019-08-15T08:08:54Z
FuzzyBot: Importing a new version from external source

What about "Update Licenses"?
Meteobridge license comes with a two year period of free update support. That means that during that time each time you reboot the Meteobridge, you will get the newest and greatest code. When two years have passed this free updates end and you will see a notification message on "System" tab, that you are stuck to the version current when the two years have passed. Please be aware that this does not mean your license is voided, it just means that you don't get new versions.
FuzzyBothttp://www.meteobridge.com/wiki/index.php?title=:License_Terms/7/en&diff=7801:License Terms/7/en2019-08-15T08:08:48Z
FuzzyBot: Importing a new version from external source

In case you decide that you want to continue to get the newest versions, you can purchase a so called "Update License", which gives you additional two years of updates. This can be purchased as easily as the original license on "License" tab. Just click the payment button, purchase a key, enter the key on "License" tab, restart the Meteobridge and you are done. If a problem occurs, please contact "info(at)meteobridge.com".
FuzzyBothttp://www.meteobridge.com/wiki/index.php?title=:License_Terms/11/en&diff=7800:License Terms/11/en2019-08-15T08:08:38Z
FuzzyBot: Importing a new version from external source

Why didn't you outline the Update License policy right from the beginning when you stepped in with Meteobridge
To be honest, we did not see the problem to organize a revenue stream for support, further development, etc in that clarity as we do now, being in the situation. Therefore, this is a decision that developed over time and as explained it does look to us as the best way to handle it. On the other side, there have never been any promises of permanent free updates, we simply did not bother with that topic when starting. Next time we will be more clear on that right from the start.
FuzzyBothttp://www.meteobridge.com/wiki/index.php?title=:License_Terms/Page_display_title/en&diff=7799:License Terms/Page display title/en2019-08-15T08:08:35Z
FuzzyBot: Importing a new version from external source

Isn't it unfair to let me pay for updates?
We don't think so, as you get two years of free updates when purchasing the initial license and this already is a substantial offer. When we are stuck to a commercial model, where we only get revenue from initial license sales, the whole thing collapses when additional sales go down while we have to maintain a large number of licensed systems. I think there will be a point of saturation in the market, when all people where Meteobridge solution does fit are equipped with it. Being there, there would be no revenue to cover client support, new developments, bug fixes, etc. As we have plenty of ideas of further development, it would be a pity to get the project stalled just because not getting a needed amount of new users on board. With the introduction of update licenses we generate revenue from the users who want additional features and support and by that we have a stable revenue base to go on with Meteobridge.
FuzzyBothttp://www.meteobridge.com/wiki/index.php?title=License_Terms/en&diff=7798License Terms/en2019-08-15T08:08:30Z
FuzzyBot: Importing a new version from external source

A Plug-in Upgrade to Your Davis Instruments® Pro2™ or Vue™ Console
The Meteobridge NANO is a tiny plug-in device that dramatically extends the features of your Davis Instruments® Vantage Pro2™ or Vue™ weather station. The NANO is simply plugged in the expansion connector underneath the cover on the back of the console. When you close the back cover again this upgrade is completely invisible.
The NANO adds a full Meteobridge feature set to your weather station setup which includes tons of services you usually need a full PC solution for. The NANO just takes about 1 watt of energy and therefore is dramatically more power efficient than using a PC or even a Raspberry Pi.

Connectivity
The NANO connects as a WiFi client to your WLAN at home and can be administrated by a web browser. That makes it very convenient to work with it, you just sit in front of your browser and do all the settings. Initial setup is done by connecting with a mobile device to the WiFi that the NANO itself does provide. Here you do all the network settings to have the NANO included into your own WiFi. Current encryption standards like WPA2 are fully supported. NANO operated on 2.4 GHz band and supports WiFi modes 802.11 b/g/n.
When being included into your WiFi network at home you can decide to have all of its network IP settings received dynamically from your router (DHCP) or to define credentials manually by a static setup. The NANO can even reach out through proxies to the Internet, if those don’t require authentication. The NANO shares with the other Meteobridge products that you can even login for administration when you are away from home. This is simply done by setting the “allow remote login” switch and storing the URL for external access as a bookmark on your traveling browser. You don’t need to fiddle with your firewall or to setup any dynamic DNS service for that.
In case your router might give the NANO spontaneously a new IP and you will not be able to reach it in your home network with the IP you have used so far, you just browse to magicip.meteobridge.com and you will be redirected to the current IP in your home network. These advanced network features are making it as convenient as it can be for you to operate the NANO in your home network and when being away from home.

Weather Networks
The NANO supports all weather networks supported by the other Meteobridge solutions. Data uploads to the networks listed below can selected in parallel and can be timed down to every few seconds, if the weather network supports that (like rapid-fire with Weather Underground). Apart from silently uploading data to these networks you also get status information how the uploads were doing. This helps a lot in getting an idea how well your station does feed the networks. NANO does tell you the recent sensor data as received from the Davis weather station and gives you the log when data was uploaded fine or with errors to your weather networks of choice.
Personal Weather Pages
The NANO can feed the popular personal weather templates WD-Live, Leuven Template, Saratoga Template, Meteo Template and Home Weather Station with default scripts. This makes it very easy to setup your personal weather page by using one of the mentioned templates. Many user prefer to have their data presented in the most efficient and versatile way instead of relying on the standard visualization the main Internet weather networks provide as a give-back for uploading weather data.

Uploads / Sending
Beside feeding standard weather networks Meteobridge NANO allows you to push your weather data in short intervals to your own server in the Internet. This can be done by Twitter, FTP, SFTP, HTTP, HTTPS or even by mySQL requests, where you can upload data in an individual way. You can freely define the uploaded content by using template variables. Doing so the NANO does not just provide you current data for upload. You can also make use of min, max or average data of the hour, today, yesterday, month and year. Data can be converted to different units (as often needed for temperature, wind speed, pressure). Timestamps for min/max values are provided as well. All this allows you to upload data in any format you like to your specific post processing platform. You also can send weather data by email or can twitter your data.
You also control when data is sent or uploaded. You can send on fixed times, or fixed periodic intervals, or triggered by individually defined events (i.e. when temp or wind is reaching limits defined by you).

Conditions
Meteobridge NANO can even act on user-defined sensor data conditions and initiate any of the actions mentioned above (like email). Conditions are made up of arithmetic expressions on the available template variables. Having multiple ways to upload and send data, controlled by user-defined conditions gives you an extremely flexible tool to make things happen based on sensor data.

Remote Access
Meteobridge NANO offers the ability to be reached from the Internet by simply setting a mark on the web interface. Doing so you are provided with an Internet URL where you can reach your Meteobridge NANO. No changes at your firewall and router are needed. It just works, unless you are in a company-grade LAN where packet filtering is applied or other special measures are taken. This feature is extremely helpful when you are on travel or the Meteobridge is located in a remote location and you want to check things or change settings. Your Meteobridge remains protected by the password you gave it.

SMS / Twitter
Meteobridge NANO can send individual SMS via service provider „messagebird“. This can be done in regular intervals or triggered by user-defined events. Content of the SMS can include weather data. The NANO is not limited to SMS but also can twitter weather information.

Data Logger
Meteobridge NANO connects to your console via serial communication and is handling the authentication needed by the newer versions of the console firmware (aka “green dot” logger). The NANO allows for some calibration of sensor data on an easy to understand settings page. While the NANO is directly making use of the data, it can also be connected by your PC weather program on port 22222 to allow for a direct pass-through to the console. In this mode the NANO acts like a standard Davis logger, but while passing through the data to the PC it also picks the needed pieces of information to feed the services defined in the NANO.

* Weather Underground
* Weather Underground Camera
* AWEKAS

Private Wetterseiten

Garantie
Wir geben 2 Jahre Herstellergarantie auf einwandfreie Funktion.

Caveats
As the NANO does consume electricity it heats up a bit over time and being located in the expansion bay of the console this additional temp is also spread into the console and by that affects the indoor temp sensor of the console. NANO provides an option to compensate for that additional heat by an option on the web interface that also corrects the values displayed on the console itself. Compensation is easy to do but it is of course not perfect but all we can do about this.

Hardware Specification

==A Plug-in Upgrade to Your Davis Instruments® Pro2™ or Vue™ Console==

* Weather Underground
* Weather Underground Camera
* AWEKAS
* CWOP / APRS
* WeatherForYou
* UK MetOffice WOW / WOW NL

Private Wetterseiten

<languages />

<languages />
Meteobridge software is shareware you can download for free as described in Getting Started section. You can test it 14 days for free in a try-out mode, which does show full functionality. If you decide to use it beyond that 14 days you will need to purchase a license. This can be done via integrated PayPal functions of the try-out version. After having done a successful PayPal checkout your Meteobridge system gets activated automatically.
One-time price for license that permits ongoing use when purchased via PayPal is 65 Euro.
When the unit is licensed it also comes with 2 years of free update support. So you don't just get what you paid for but also benefit from new features coming ahead. When your Meteobridge has run out of the 2 years of free updates, you can purchase another 2 years of update support for 19 Euros by a few PayPal clicks. But this is just an optional offer, you can also stick to the version you have, there is not must for an update.
Meteobridge Hardware
TP-LINK router TL-MR3020, TL-MR3040 are world-wide available at computer stores. So you can buy one of these from your preferred HW store. Beside tons of other options, Amazon and EBAY will have offers for sure. TL-WR307N is only sold in China, but there are EBAY sellers that do ship this item around the world. As to my knowledge TL-WR703N has not gone through FCC, CE and RoHS certification using that units in Europe and US might not be compliant with local regulations. We can't give you advise on if that might be a problem, but we want to make you aware of this issue. ASUS WL-330N3G is also an alternative and easy to get in Europe, while not so well populated in the US. D-Link router DIR-505 offers double the flash and RAM which makes it a perfect companion, when you are going to use Meteobridge with storage intensive libraries needed for mySQL or the Acurite Acu-Link Bridge device.

Once you have a TL-MR3020, TL-MR3040, TL-WR703N, DIR-505 or WL-330N3G simply follow instructions on Getting Started page and you will be able to make a Meteobridge unit out of it with a few simple steps.

<languages />

<languages />

<languages />
